Lil Wayne and Birdman Sued for Copyright Infringement

22 Jun

So… there is more bad news for rapper, Lil Wayne. Bridgeport Music has filed a lawsuit against rappers, Lil Wayne and Bryan “Birdman” Williams.

This is the third for the famous duo this week alone!

The charges are copyright infringement against Cash Money and Young Money(Lil Wayne’s labels). Allegedly, Birdman illegally sampled the song, “You and Your Folks, Me And My Folks”, which belongs to Funkadelic, dating back to 1971 with their Maggot Brain album.

The two hugely successful rappers also are accused of illegally using the sample on the track, “Army Gunz”, which was originally featured on Birdman’s 2006 album, Like Father, Like Son. Producer, David Kirkwood initiated the lawsuit concerning unpaid royalties from his record labels, Young Money and Cash Money Records.
