Its been a rough week for Chris Bosh. First he lost the NBA championship to the Dallas Mavericks. Then he was caught and then teased for crying after the loss. Now, the mother of Chris Bosh’s child is suing the Miami Heat star, alleging that Bosh prevented her from appearing on the reality show “Basketball Wives.”
Allison Mathis, Bosh’s ex-girlfriend, claims in a lawsuit filed Monday in Orange County Circuit Court that Bosh “intentionally, knowingly, maliciously and without justification interfered” in her employment, prompting the television show’s production company to fire her.
In early May, Bosh sued Mathis and Shed Media, the show’s production company, alleging that they were trying to exploit her former relationship with Bosh for “commercial gain.”
Jane E. Carey, Mathis’ attorney, released a statement that read: “Ms. Mathis was employed to appear on this season of the reality TV series “Basketball Wives.” Chris Bosh is using his vast money and all of the power that comes from his wealth and celebrity to silence her.”
Chris Bosh was paid a salary of $14,500,000 during the 2010-11 season with the Miami Heat.
He acknowledges he and Mathis have a child together.
His suit sought damages and an injunction to block her and the media company from trademark infringement by using his name and disclosing private facts about his life.
C. Anthony Mulrain, one of Bosh’s attorneys, said he had not seen the lawsuit that was filed on Mathis’ behalf on Monday.
This wouldnt be the first lawsuit Mathis has filed against teh NBA star. In 2009, Allison Mathis, was seeking child support and sole custody of their child. Mathis alleged that when she was seven months pregnant, Bosh stopped supporting her financially and tried to remove her from their home. Three days later, it was reported that the dispute was only over the amount Bosh paid. Mathis’ lawyer also told the press, “My client very much wanted this dispute to remain private. Certainly this thing did not get started by anything on our side… She is very distressed that somehow this thing got into the newspapers. She wants Trinity to have a good relationship with her dad, Chris Bosh, and adverse publicity makes that more difficult.”
As to the current lawsuit, Bosh’s attorney is witholding commentary–“I’m in no position to comment until I see the papers,” Mulrain said.
